Design And Build are seeking a Senior H&S Coordinator
to join a 319MW solar project in Victoria which aims to deliver affordable, reliable, and clean energy to Victorian homes and businesses.
Your Role and Responsibilities:
We are seeking a local operative with Victorian-centric experience to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will influence employees, contractors, and visitors on all Health & Safety matters, ensuring alignment with policies and procedures.
As a Senior H&S Coordinator, you will provide support, coordination, and expert advice on H&S practices, systems, and procedures within the Project. You will also develop and administer education and compliance programs for employees, contractors, and visitors, ensuring the continuous improvement of H&S practices. In addition, you will support the team in implementing and delivering comprehensive H&S training across the Project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in monitoring subcontractors as they commence work and provide upward reporting to the Project Safety Manager.
- Communicate H&S requirements effectively to subcontractors on-site.
- Review Subcontractor H&S Interview Questionnaires and assess subcontractors’ capabilities in delivering work tasks to agreed H&S standards.
- Report key issues to project leadership and regional H&S management.
- Assist in identifying H&S training needs, conduct competency assessments, and support ongoing development.
- Deliver training throughout the project where permitted by the client.
- Assist with incident investigations and report to the appropriate personnel.
- Support site communication efforts.
- Prepare, conduct, and/or coordinate project or workplace H&S inductions and training programs.
- Regularly review project H&S systems and plans to ensure compliance with activity requirements.
- Enter and extract data from the incident management system.
- Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
- Cert IV in Environmental Management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environment, Engineering, Project Management, or other relevant disciplines.
- ISO45001 and/or ISO14001 Lead Auditor Qualification.
- Previous experience as an H&S Practitioner in Construction, Engineering, heavy industry, or high-risk industries.
- Experience working under Victorian Workplace Health and Safety legislation and Codes of Practice.
- Previous experience with Solar Farms in regional Victoria (preferred).
- Knowledge of business administration and capability to use H&S management software/tools.
- Strong incident report management and analysis skills.
- Expertise in H&S management techniques and tools.
- Proficient in quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring.
- Skilled in data gathering, statistical and trend analysis.
- Experience in conducting and interpreting audits and reviews.
- Strong document management skills, including recording, monitoring, archiving, and producing written communications.
- Ability to identify H&S improvements to systems, processes, or products.
- Knowledge of Safety & Rehabilitation Management Systems and Environmental Management Systems.
- Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental legislation, and ability to interpret relevant statutes.
- Proficient in auditing, H&S inspections, and compliance reporting procedures.
- Strong understanding of compliance and reporting procedures, and incident management involving multiple parties.
